TODAY’S TOP STORIES

🇧🇷 Brazil's House Eyes $15B Bitcoin Reserve

Brazil's House of Representatives will hold a hearing on August 20 to discuss creating a national Bitcoin reserve, allowing up to 5% of treasury funds (roughly $15B) to be invested in BTC. The bill aims to protect international reserves against exchange rate fluctuations and geopolitical risks while promoting ‘blockchain technology’. If passed, it heads to the Senate before President Lula signs or vetoes it. Cointelegraph

🇮🇩 Indonesia Eyes Bitcoin Reserves with Volcanic Energy Power

Indonesia is also exploring adding Bitcoin to its national reserves, leveraging the country's abundant geothermal and hydroelectric energy for mining operations. With 280M citizens and a $1.4T economy, officials met with Bitcoin Indonesia to discuss long-term financial stability strategies. The proposal includes educational programs and mining infrastructure expansion, while the nation's Bitcoin and crypto market already generates $38M annually in tax revenue from over 20M users. 🚀 Michigan Pension Fund Triples Bitcoin ETF Stake

Michigan's state pension fund tripled its Bitcoin exposure by purchasing 200,000 additional shares of ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF, bringing total holdings to 300,000 shares worth $10.7M. The move reflects growing institutional adoption of Bitcoin through regulated exchange-traded funds since their approval in January 2024. Michigan joins Wisconsin and other public institutions embracing Bitcoin investments through ETFs as Bitcoin trades around $113,000. Bitcoin Magazine

OPSEC FEATURE ARTICLE

I am an image!

Two days were all it took for a statewide manhunt to end with an arrest after the recent murders of Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, and the shootings of State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife.

Federal filings say the suspect stalked elected officials, posed as a police officer, and used a notebook listing ‘people-search’ websites to gather home addresses.

Anyone with a credit card can purchase your home address, phone number, and family links.

This week’s OPSEC feature article breaks down how the data broker economy really works, how it fuels offline harm, and what you can do today to scrub, shield, and stay sovereign.
