🔐 Mixer Ruling Widens Conspiracy Exposure Risk

The Rage reports that the Sterlingov ruling treats every mixer deposit as furthering a criminal conspiracy because it enlarges the pool that obscures identities. The SDNY used that precedent in Roman Storm's case even though he wrote open-source, non-custodial Tornado Cash code.

Why it matters: Bitcoin privacy loses when surveillance incentives turn users and open-source developers into conspiracy targets. Sovereignty wins only when law distinguishes custody from code and ordinary use. Read more→

💰 Strike Turns Idle Cash Into Bitcoin Rewards

Strike lets eligible cash balances earn bitcoin with no minimum and no monthly fee. Cross River Bank holds the dollars and pays the interest, while eligible cash has Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation protection up to $250,000.

Why it matters: The product redirects a fiat incentive toward Bitcoin accumulation, but bank custody preserves counterparty risk. Savers win more sats only after moving rewards to self-custody and controlling their keys. Read more→

⛏️ F2Pool's Chun Wang Backs BIP 448, Waits on Consensus

F2Pool co-founder Chun Wang says BIP 448 is "good to go" for him. He adds, "we'd like to signal for it once wider consensus is achieved," so no signaling has begun. The proposal is still a draft for Taproot-native rebindable transactions, with activation left for later.

Why it matters: A possible signal from even a large mining pool is only an initial step toward broader consensus. Bitcoin stays hard money because node operators and users can reject rules they cannot verify. BIP 448 has to win on merit, not on a miner's timeline. Read more→

How to Stop a Leaked KYC File From Exposing Every Bitcoin You Own

❝

An attacker sat inside Swiss broker Pocket Bitcoin's support system for about a week, until 16 August. For 291 customers, the stolen files held ID copies, postal addresses and, for some, the bitcoin address they bought into. Trezor's shipping partner leaked 11,742 shipping addresses the same month.

Changing your password does nothing here. The address is on a public ledger forever, and every coin that ever touched it now points at your front door.

So which of your other coins are already tied to that address? Which common habit spreads the damage to coins the leak never touched? And how do you spend a tagged coin without handing out your IP address too?

This week's OPSEC Feature Article shows you how to contain a leaked purchase address before it exposes the rest of your stack.
