Greetings Bitcoiner,

Welcome to Issue #646 of Bitcoin Breakdown, where it’s OPSEC Wednesday special, followed by the latest Quick Bits snippets. But first, today’s Top Stories:

Middle East digital-asset use is splitting between regulated Gulf ecosystems and people seeking financial continuity during conflict or currency stress. Block is seeking a national trust charter for Bitcoin custody, while CoinCorner has launched a multisig Vault with segregated addresses and insurance limited by policy terms.

Hire anyone, anywhere β€” compliant in under 3 days

Found the right person, but they’re in a country where you don’t have an entity? Setting one up can take months and significant cost.

Remote removes that barrier by becoming the legal employer through our own entities β€” handling compliant contracts, local benefits, tax setup, and onboarding for you. In fact, an employee is onboarded to Remote every 7 minutes.

Once they’re hired, the same in-house teams that support employment locally also run payroll β€” so you’re not bouncing between disconnected providers. Less setup, less complexity, and less time between finding the right person and getting them started.

🌍 MENA Crypto Volume Triples as Conflict Tests Markets

MENA annual on-chain crypto volume rose from roughly $100 billion in 2022 to an estimated $350 billion by 2025 to 2026, while Bitcoin dominance reached 64.8% during the Israel-Iran conflict. BPI says Egypt's P2P Bitcoin trading climbed more than 300% after pound devaluations, while exchanges stayed open during missile strikes as stock exchanges closed.

Why it matters: Open settlement gives people another way to preserve and move value when permissioned finance becomes unavailable. Bitcoin cannot promise stable prices, but its continued operation offers a practical form of financial sovereignty. Read more→

🏦 Block Seeks Federal Charter for Bitcoin Custody

Jack Dorsey’s Block applies to establish Builders Bank & Trust as an uninsured national trust bank under the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. If approved, it would provide Bitcoin and stablecoin custody through a consistent national framework, while accepting no deposits and making no loans.

Why it matters: A federal framework could reduce fragmented licensing without changing Bitcoin's settlement rules. Clients would still trade personal key control for institutional custody, making the custody choice more accessible but no less consequential. Read more→

πŸ” CoinCorner Launches Insured Multisig Vault

CoinCorner launches Vault with multisig custody split across providers in multiple jurisdictions. Each customer receives a dedicated, segregated on-chain address, while Lloyd's-underwritten coverage applies to specified key-loss and unauthorized-access events under policy terms and limits.

Why it matters: Segregated addresses improve verification, but Vault remains custodial because customers do not control every key. Insurance can narrow defined risks without replacing the sovereignty of self-custody. Read more→

This week's OPSEC Feature Article shows you how to verify the device applications behind Ledger's trusted display, harden the host connection, and keep a stale signer from authorizing the wrong spend.
