Greetings Bitcoiner,

❝

Welcome to Issue #648 of Bitcoin Breakdown, where we’re bringing you your end-of-week Bitcoin Digest featuring all the need-to-know Quick Bits snippets and Quick Media. But first, today’s Top Stories:

The Liquid Network is producing blocks again while peg-in and peg-out stay suspended until reserve backing is restored. Amboss and Aureo now settle Lightning payments as Mexican pesos in seconds for individuals and businesses worldwide. And a solo participant found Bitcoin block 966351 on Braiins Solo, keeping the whole reward.

Hire anyone, anywhere — compliant in under 3 days

Found the right person, but they’re in a country where you don’t have an entity? Setting one up can take months and significant cost.

Remote removes that barrier by becoming the legal employer through our own entities — handling compliant contracts, local benefits, tax setup, and onboarding for you. In fact, an employee is onboarded to Remote every 7 minutes.

Once they’re hired, the same in-house teams that support employment locally also run payroll — so you’re not bouncing between disconnected providers. Less setup, less complexity, and less time between finding the right person and getting them started.

🌊 Liquid's Blocks Are Back, Its Peg Is Still Shut

Block production on the Liquid Network resumed and functionary nodes are signing and validating blocks normally, and Blockstream confirmed that functionary and bridge node software updates were deployed successfully. Peg-in and peg-out operations remain suspended while 1:1 BTC/L-BTC reserve backing is restored.

Why it matters: An L-BTC balance depends on reserve backing the network is still rebuilding, and peg-out is closed until that backing returns. AQUA and BULL Bitcoin warn users against risky manual swaps and fake-update scam sites. Read more→

⚡ Lightning Now Settles as Pesos in Mexican Banks

Amboss and Aureo connected the Lightning Network to Mexico's banking system, letting Lightning payments settle as Mexican pesos in seconds for individuals and businesses worldwide. The integration offers businesses instant finality, lower fees than card rails, and no chargeback risk.

Why it matters: Businesses can hold balances in BTC, USDT, or USDC on Amboss before converting to pesos on their own schedule. The Lightning leg stays permissionless, while Aureo runs the identity checks on the peso leg. Read more→

⛏️ Solo Miner Takes Bitcoin Block 966351 Outright

A Bitcoin block, block 966351, was found on Braiins Solo, and Braiins congratulated the account behind it. Braiins Solo lets an independent participant keep the full reward instead of splitting it across pool participants, and Braiins did not state the identity of the participant.

Why it matters: Block 966351 was verified by the same Bitcoin consensus rules that apply to every pool. A lone participant winning a whole block reward is the incentive that keeps independent mining worth attempting. Read more→
