Greetings Bitcoiner,
Welcome to Issue #650 of the Bitcoin Breakdown daily newsletter, where we’re rounding up the most talked-about developments in the Bitcoin-only space from the past weekend with our Quick Bits and Quick Media sections. But first, today’s Top Stories:
Revolut disclosed that attackers obtained customer identity records, home addresses and Bitcoin transaction histories through a fraudulent government-domain request, and they now threaten daily leaks. A researcher flagged 45 of 494 App Store wallet apps for potential private-key exfiltration and weak entropy. Blockstream refused to pay for the 598.5 BTC still withheld after the Liquid exploit.

🔓 Revolut Leak Maps Identities to Bitcoin Activity
Revolut said customer information was disclosed after a fraudulent request arrived from a government domain. The exposed material included identity documents, home addresses, verification selfies and Bitcoin transaction histories, while Revolut said its systems and customer funds were unaffected.
Why it matters: Attackers published customer information and reportedly threatened daily releases until Revolut paid. The leverage came from linking personal identities with Bitcoin activity, not from a reported theft of customer funds. Read more→
📱 Researcher Flags 45 App Store Wallet Apps
A researcher identified 904 App Store listings marketed as non-custodial Bitcoin wallets and analyzed 494. The review looked for private-key exfiltration and weak entropy, then classified 23 findings as potentially critical and 22 as potentially high.
Why it matters: The 45 flagged apps were potential risks, not confirmed thefts or losses, and the researcher acknowledged possible false positives. The report still raises a direct question about trusting a single App Store wallet on one mobile device with meaningful funds. Read more→
🚫 Blockstream Rejects the Exploiter Demand for 598.5 BTC
Blockstream refused to pay for the remaining 598.5 BTC from the Liquid exploit and described its retention as theft. Blockstream said recovery work now includes law enforcement, exchanges, service providers and independent forensic specialists.
Why it matters: Roughly 3,400 BTC was returned after the vulnerability was patched, while Blockstream said federation operators and private keys were not compromised. The remaining 598.5 BTC is now the focus of a coordinated recovery effort. Read more→
